But if we want to be honest, even though we claim to have loads of "favorite objects" in our wardrobe, we tend to wear the same outfits over and over again. That's probably the reason why we can't seem to have enough of them. If we would peek into our wardrobes now, we'll discover items that we wear only once or twice in a year because we're too comfortable wearing the "usual" ones.
This repetitive dressing-up can be caused by the fact that the clothes we just worn are washed and ironed, folded, and then piled up again at the top of the wardrobe or hung at the front; making us too reluctant doing mix 'n match like ones suggested by magazines we read. If this is what's happening, maybe we can re-organize to put the fresh clothes (worn a couple of days ago) on the bottom layer of the pile or the back of the hanger so we can see more options (we never knew we had).
It can be tricky, though, to experiment with clothes. We can easily fall for wearing the more
familiar top and bottom because it's easier that way. Sometimes, we can't afford the risk of being noticed by colleagues for wearing something out of the ordinary. However, often, it's worth the time and effort. Putting up a "new" style from clothes stuck in our wardrobe for years can boost our mood and spark an a-ha moment: "Hey, I can actually work my way from what I already have!"
To decrease the hassle of morning-frustration, we can do the head-to-toe selection the night earlier...and most importantly, commit to wear the selected items in the morning without a change of mind. Wearing different clothes (complimented with different shoes, accessories & bags) can make us feel brand new every day (as well as save money). With a dash of creativity and confidence to wing it, I believe that this can be pretty exciting.
Dare to take the challenge?
