Awake at 7-ish in the morning, we’re set to go to the
happiest place on Earth, Disneyland! Beforehand, we visited the famous
meeting-venue for Indonesian workers, Victoria Park; watching senior citizens do
their Tai Chi routines and taking some pics at the Laughing Corner.
Then, we took
a stroll to Causeway Bay, another shopping destination in Hong Kong. First up,
no..not the boutiques, but Wellcome Supermarket, an affordable supermarket that
Indonesian workers love to shop in. We got some tuna and sausage bread for breakfast (the bakery lady said it’s Halal; she even said a few words in Bahasa Indonesia, too). After that, we visited the
Christmassy-decorated Times Square, and bought some lipglosses at SaSa cosmetic
shop for lip balms as souvenirs for my girl friends (an alternative for fridge magnets).

Below Times Square, there’s an escalator to underground tunnel that
directed us to an MTR station to Central. And from Central to Disneyland we had
to change to orange line, then finally the pink line – Disney Resort line!
Before we entered Disneyland, we had our bread-and-water breakfast first on a
bench just in front of the ticket booth.

As we reached the Mickey Mouse garden, we heard a voice on
the speaker, “Have a Magical Day!” It was a magical day, indeed. As warned,
most of the rides are meant for
children with minimum heights of 130 cm...but the nostalgic characters and
songs were unparalleled to anything in the world. We grew up with them, and we
couldn’t stop ourselves from staring in awe at Minnie (whom we took a picture
with), singing along the songs, and absorbing the Disney atmosphere as much as
we could. We had a great time at the Mystic House, Mickey Magical 4-D Show,
Space Mountain rollercoaster, and even the Winnie the Pooh ride. We stayed
until it’s time for fireworks in Sleeping Beauty Castle. I’m glad we made it J

Oh, a tip for tourists: if you want to buy Disney souvenirs,
it is recommended to purchase them in the airport, since it’s a lot cheaper
than the ones in Disneyland.
There was just one thing that bothered me, my shoes were killing
me! Travel Lesson no. 6: always wear
comfortable shoes when you’re traveling abroad. If you’re not a CEO or a person
with high managerial level, most likely, you’re required to walk a lot. A pair
of comfortable shoes and flip-flops or sling back sandals if your feet gets
overheat.
